Charis J. Carmichael Braun grew up in New Ulm, MN. After living in Switzerland as an exchange student, she earned her B.A. at Bethany Lutheran College and her M.F.A. from the New York Academy of Art.Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and can be found in both private and public collections. She has studied with William Bukowski, Judith Schaechter, Peter Cox, Steven Assael, Dan Thompson and Frank Porcu, having also been influenced by Vincent Desiderio’s writings and thoughts on the apprehension of the ineffable and the technical narrative.
With her husband Andrew Braun, a woodworker and cabinetmaker, Charis lives and works in New York.
